When propane from a calefon burns, it becomes carbon monoxide. This high-quality carbon monoxide detector should be used in every room where someone sleeps, especially if the door is closed.  (Or in the hallway outside the bedroom, so long as it can be heard from inside the bedroom.)

The alarm will sound when more than 400 parts per million of CO are detected.  (This is the EN50291 standard.)  When a dangerous level is detected, you will hear a voice prompt: “Carbon monoxide gas leaking.  Please open the window and the door” Then an alarm will sound.

In general, you will want to mount it on the ceiling. At a minimum, it should be placed about 10 cm (4”)  away from a wall.  If mounting on a wall, it should be installed at a minimum of 10 cm (4”) below the ceiling.

Please do not clean with a detergent or spray directly with air fresheners.

Note that is a carbon monoxide detector, which detects CO after propane burns.  It will not detect propane.  For propane detection, you will want a high-quality propane detector from CosasPrep.
